AOL offers the whole internet on any mobile with, well, AOL Mobile

AOL logo.jpgAOL has just launched its very own mobile internet portal, offering what it claims is a ‘web experience closer to PC than any other mobile portal’.

AOL Mobile, launched by AOL UK, claims to offer a “real” internet user experience. It uses content pulled from its normal internet portal, offering Web Surf, Email and Search functions.

AOL had said only last month it was working on a mobile version of AOL.co.uk and already it’s here. Presumably AOL kept quiet until it knew everything worked so it could surprise us with the speed of its development.

The ‘real internet’ experience comes from AOL Mobile taking web content and configuring (or transcoding) it to work on a user’s phone, regardless of which handset they’re using.

AOL’s internet portal is renowned for its - some might say - obtrusive web branding and AOL Mobile won’t be any different. Every transcoded page will have AOL headers and footers taking you back to AOL Mobile.

You can get a look at AOL’s mobile portal by texting AOL to 85885.
