Apple Macs are justly famed for their ability to interoperate with other devices, but they have always had trouble with Windows Mobile. There has never been any native Mac OSX support for Windows smartphones and, now the iPhone is on the scene, Apple are unlikely to start providing it.
The traditional fix was to buy a copy of The Missing Sync. This would synchronise a host of devices with Mac OSX but, while not exactly expensive at around $40, it still meant spending money to achieve something the OS should have done for free.
SyncMate (right) is a new freeware app that should do the trick. It will sync Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices with machines running Mac OS 10.4. Yup, that’s right - it doesn’t support Leopard yet. A shame, but hopefully something the authors can put right now that Leopard has been around for a few months.
