iPhone Web Apps No.14: Jumper Movie site

Like surely everyone else who’s seen the trailer, I thought ‘Jumper’ was a rubbish name for a film. You might as well call it ‘Tank top’. However, once I found out it relates to some kind of interdimensional whizzy leaping, I was more excited. And ‘whizzy’ is the word for the film’s official iPhone site too - not least because it’s one of the first movies to actually have an iPhone-friendly presence.

There’s the usual elements you’d expect - a trailer, a plot synopsis and character guide. There’s a wallpaper section that puzzlingly doesn’t seem to work, but far better is the graphic novel, which gives you a taste of Jumper in a slick comic style. Finally, a neat touch is the feature that lets you ‘jump’ to other iPhone sites at random, hitting the Back button to return to the Jumper site for another go.

It might not be directly promoting the film, but it’s a welcome feature all the same - if only to help you find some new and interesting iPhone sites.

To get the wallpapers, you have to go to a second site: foxmediaonline.com/downloads/jumper (shown at the bottom of each picture). I did that, and it worked fine for me. Apparently you can’t add wallpapers over the air, you have to use iTunes.

The filming style of Jumper made me feel like i myself was jumping around… very cool. Also Christensen’s lines were as short as possible, which was ideal for the movie’s overall quality.
