And here was us thinking that it was Google that was planning on launching a G phone. According to some rumours sweeping the dusty plains of the Internet this morning, Sony Ericsson is set to unveil a new range of handsets at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona next week called the G series.
The G series will apparently consist initially of two handsets, the G700i and the G900i, both of which will be compact touchscreen efforts. The G900i is rumoured to sport WLAN and a 5 megapixel camera whereas the G700i is apparently the scaled down version with no WLAN and a 3.2 megapixel camera.
If these handsets are in fact the real deal our money is on them both packing HSDPA 3G connectivity, solid media credentials and other iPhone baiting features if you catch our drift. The handsets are supposedly making their debut on the 10th of this month and if they do make an appearance in Barcelona next week, we’ll be sure to bring you a full report from the show floor. And before you get all excited that picture to the right is just a fan concept mock-up (and very nice it is too) but it’s nice to dream.
