Sony Ericsson adds the W980 to its Walkman line

screenshot_01.jpgOk, we promise this will be the last Sony Ericsson handset we write about for at least the next few hours. The W980 is a new Walkman branded Sony Ericsson handset that looks similar to the W530 though not quite as slender (and different in that its a clamshell obviously). It boasts a very generous 8GB of internal flash storage to make up for it however (that’s a bit more like it!).

Being a Walkman branded device music is the focus is music so little extras like album artwork support, shake music controls and an FM radio accompany the in-built PlayNow service nicely. The music controls on the face of the device should no doubt come in handy too and apparently the included headphones are a cut above your average ear buds giving crystal clear sound with background noise reduction.

The 3.2 megapixel camera with 3.2 x digital zoom is certainly respectable and the odd inclusion of the Microsoft Exchange Active Sync support certainly won’t do it any harm. All in all then a very well rounded looking addition to the Walkman cannon of handsets then with the 8GB of onboard storage being the major sweetener.
