Nokia’s new N78 struts its Nseries stuff

02_nokian78_lowres.jpgIn all the hustle and bustle of last week’s various Barcelona based comings and goings we somehow managed to overlook some announcements in the Nokia camp. As part of a refreshing of the Nseries line up the N78 has been rolled out and is being touted, somewhat exaggeratedly, as a multimedia computer.

Even so, the device is unsurprisingly feature packed, including support for the Nokia Music Store, Nokia Maps, and Share on Ovi. Backing up the robust software packed into the handset is A-GPS, WLAN, HSDPA 3G connectivity, a 3.2 megapixel camera and support for microSD memory cards.

Uniquely the N78 will also include an FM transmitter which for all intents and purposes is the equivalent of an in-built iTrip allowing you to broadcast music stored on your handset to a nearby radio, very useful for listening to your own playlists in the car.

It is a bit of an odd looking beast with a keypad that might put some off despite the rest of the design falling nicely within the now standard piano black Nseries finish. The other thing is that at 350 euros before taxes (about 264 quid) it’s not really that far away from some higher spec Nseries devices if you know what we’re saying.

Not bad though and the inclusion of an FM transmitter is a very nice touch which should encourage a fair few sales when the devices ships which is sometime in the first half of this year.
