Size is everything, especially if you talk to a certain Mr Tan of Songyuan City in China. He reckons he’s made the largest mobile phone in the world - it stands three feet high and weighs 48 pounds. It’s fully working too, a local journalist tested its texting and voice call functions.
There’s even a built-in camera and internet browser, although it’s not exactly mobile - having to be plugged into the mains due to the lack of suitably large batteries. “The neighbours were always knocking on my door asking what was going on with all the noise from the apartment, and even my wife was complaining,” he explains.
It’s surely only a matter of time before some crazy hotshot inventor comes up with a larger working model, of course. I’d rather see people working at the other end of the scale, inventing teeny-tiny nanophones. And then they could meet up with Mr Tan for a photo opportunity.

Yes, but does the big mobile phone Dom Joly uses in his skit(s) actually work? I don’t think it has a fully working internet browser or built in camera feature.
It must work, he’s talking to someone on it! ;o)
