Nokia reveals two new XpressMusic candybars

nokia_5320_5220_lowres.jpgThough what we really want from Nokia just now is some solid details about the forthcoming Tube touchscreen handset, two new XpressMusic handsets certainly won’t go amiss in the meantime.

In the blue corner we have the Nokia 5320 XpressMusic and in the red, the Nokia 5220 XpressMusic. The big focus here as you might expect is music (we don’t miss a thing, do we?) so both handsets are compatible with the Nokia Music Store for side loading tracks and each device has the standard XpressMusic dedicated music keys with the 5320 making use of them for landscape N-Gage gaming too.

The 5320 is the beefier of the two devices with 3G, HSDPA and the unique voice controlled Say and Play feature which allows you to literally ask your phone to play a song or search your music folder for an artist. There is no great chunk of onboard storage in the device but there is memory card support for up to 8GB which isn’t bad at all. Add to that an audio chip for hi-fi sound quality, a fully featured internet browser and access to Ovi and Nokia Search 4.1 and the 5320 near enough justifies its 220 Euro price tag (about £175).

The spec sheet for the 5220 seems pretty much half finished by comparison. The Nokia press release makes no mention of any sort of advanced connectivity (in the absence of a camera on the front of the device, we are guessing that video calling and hence 3G are right out) and seems to be pushing the device’s built in lanyard as its chief selling point. It does however have a pretty cool asymmetrical design which is something you don’t see every day. The 5220 will cost 160 Euros (about £130).

Both devices should hit the shops by late summer.
