
Though we all love our QWERTYs, a more elegant solution for typing on mobile phones quickly, is still something of a design holy grail.
The latest to have a stab at making mobile typing less finger wrenchingly uncomfortable is I-O Data with a simple Bluetooth 2.0 keyboard. Admittedly the CPKB-BT is a little on the impractical side for your typical user, but if you are the sort of person that finds themselves hammering out email after email on a daily basis, it’s certainly more compact than most and even when combined with a mobile, much, much lighter than a laptop.
Weighing a total of 170g and powered by some good old fashioned AA batteries (a pair of which will last 2-3 months based on one hour of use a day) it’s certainly not burdensomely heavy. It’s pretty stylish too (as keyboards go anyway), looking not unlike a pygmy version of the the most recent Mac wireless keyboards.
Sadly this is unlikely to make it’s way over here but it’s releasing in Japan on June 11th for about £70, so if you are in the area…
