Nokia Mobile Web Server Facebook app

facebook_status.jpgNokia’s Mobile Web Server has always seemed like a solution in search of a problem.  Apar from the tiny minority who would want to run an actual website from their phones, there has never been much in the way of killer apps for the tiny S60 web server.

With the release of their new Facebook app “Live Status from my Nokia Phone” (catchy title!) Nokia is hoping that some of Facebook’s social networking mojo might rub off and encourage people to start serving up webs from their pockets.

The app requires the latest Mobile Web Server 1.3 beta for S60 3rd Edition phones.  Once that is installed and you have added the Facebook app, visitors to your profile page will be able to send you free text messages using a web form and request live ‘what are you looking at’ images directly from your phone.

Your phone will also provide the app with your current status and availability from your calendar.  The data is pulled directly from your device, so any chanegs you make will turn up on Facebook as soon as the app is able to sync.

The usual Facebook privacy clauses apply, as do your mobile roaming data charges - so be aware if you decide to give this a go.

i love this idea. I’ve installed the server in my phone, and added the application on facebook, but my status doesn’t sync to facebook. And my friends can’t see any of the feauturs that you talk about, they are only available throug the webpage of the server. Am I doing something wrong?
