Nokia means business with two new Eseries handsets

Nokia unveiled two new business focussed Eseries handsets earlier this week, the Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 (we missed them because we were caught in the throws of a Firefox 3 induced apoplectic rage).

The big push factor for both devices is their ease of email use with both supporting one touch access to emails, Microsoft Exchange (preloaded out of the box) and the Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email solution (Nokia’s proprietary Exchange equivalent). Both devices also come with the new switch mode allowing you to quickly flip between personal and work home screens.
The E71 sports a full on QWERTY keyboard (a rarity for Nokia handsets) while the E66 is a slightly sleeker affair with a standard keypad. Clad in a stainless steel shell with etched graphics the Nokia E71, though businesslike in appearance, is still a reasonably stylish Nokia offering. It has apparently also been designed for both one-handed and two-handed use via a ‘brilliantly simple interface’ and special attention to ergonomics.

The Nokia E66 slider doesn’t look half bad either and benefits from an orientation sensor that does all of the usual such as automatic screen orientation and ignoring calls when the screen is face down.

Then there’s the entertainment side with both devices taking full advantage of the range of Ovi services including maps, music and media sharing. There is also some speedy internet browsing via HSDPA, wireless LAN and 3G connectivity. Thrown in for good measure are Assisted GPS, Nokia Maps, a music player, 8 GB expandable memory and a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera.

Not a bad pair of business focussed phones then and they certainly win points in the looks department. The Nokia E71 and the Nokia E66 are expected to retail for 350 Euros (about £280) before taxes and subsidies.e71_05_lowres.jpg
