Apple sets price and size limits for iPhone app store

appstore_1.jpgHow much would you play for an iPohne app?  And what kind of size do you think it might be?

Well, if you answered “oh, probably over a thousand dollars a go” and “well, at least two and a half gigabytes”  DO NOT USE THE IPHONE APP STORE!  You will be terribly disappointed.

Apple has set a price limit of $1000 on iPhone apps from the new App Store and app downloads will be limitd to 2GB.

Pricing will start at 99 cents and there are plans for incremental price bands, according to a leak to Apple Insider.

Although there should be room for some freebies, it would be interesting to see if the open source community steps up with an easy alternative to the app store.  Spending 500 quid on a mobile phone app isn’t exactly top of my todo list.

The App Store is expected to launch in early July - probably around the 11th.
