Lost your iPhone? Mobifindr can answer your prayers…

navizon.jpgThe last thing anyone wants is to lose their iPhone. In our experience, owners of said device can get quite attached, more so than most mobile owners even (except the Blackberry crowd obviously).

So how about an application that, in the event that you lose your beloved companion, texts you from the device to let you know where it’s at? Sound good? Thought so.  Textually is reporting that a company called Navizon has released an application called Mobifindr, which does just that. All you have to do is text a key phrase to your lost handset and it replies with its location.

All well and good if its still sitting on the table you had your lunch on, not so helpful if it’s in the back pocket of some opportunist that’s hit the jackpot. Still, assuming your phone is just lost and not stolen, this could save a lot of heartache. Though only available for the iPhone at present, there are BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and S60 versions all planed for release soon. The application is already available which suggests to us that it’s a jailbroken only affair - here’s hoping an official version finds its way to the App Store when it launches.

Hit the jump to see Mobifindr in action.
