Leaked patent enters Casio into the 8 megapixel war

casio-w63ca-fcc.jpgThe folks over at Engadget Mobile have upturned yet another 8 megapixel camera that’s set to enter the fold, this time from Casio. The device is an Exilim branded Casio/Hitachi effort and though the only image of the device so far is a leaked patent technical drawing, it’s already looking very nice indeed.

The device, which hasn’t been officially announced yet, is hella skinny indeed. In fact, we’d stick our neck out as far as to say that this will be the slimmest 8 megapixel camera available when it launches. Besides the 8 megapixel camera, which by the way sports an Omnivision sensor which will apparently revolutionize camera phone tech, the device has 3G, a high resolution 800 x 400 pixel screen and a swishy swiveling display.

Looks like the Sony Ericsson C902 and the Samsung INNOV8 are going to have an even bigger fight on their hands for camera phone supremacy come autumn. Our money’s on the Sony Ericsson, but then this Casio could be a bit of a dark horse. More details when we have them folks.
