LG announces first 8 megapixel, full touchscreen handset

Just as we thought the 8 megapixel war couldn’t get much messier, with the Sony Ericsson C905, the Samsung INNOV8 and Casio’s effort all set to do some serious retail jostling before the end of the year, in breezes LG with the world’s first full touchscreen 8 megapixel phone. Talk about putting the cat among the pigeons.

The LG-KC910 (which really deserves to be christened with a much snappier name before it’s released) is an 8 megapixel, full touchscreen camera phone, with assisted GPS, Wi-Fi and compatibility with 3G HSDPA networks for connections up to 7.2Mbps.

So far so Viewty, but besides the addition of a turbo charged lens, the LG-KC910 will apparently be the first handset to market, to include the powerful audio technology, Dolby Mobile. Not only that, but at just 13.95 mm thick, it will officially be the slimmest 8 megapixel camera phone on the market. Ouch!

As for that snapper, it will make use of Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics (what is it with these obligatory Swiss German names in camera phone lenses these days), xenon flash, image stabiliser, auto-focus, manual focus, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection.

And if that merry little package doesn’t leave you gasping for breath, then the fact that it can record video from 5 to 120 frames per second, affording both slow and fast motion clips, definitely will.

Quite the contender and no mistake. The LG-KC910 will be available in October and will probably not be cheap. More shots of this as soon as we have them folks.
