Android version of new Google app on the way (hint: it’s a kind of metal)

Time for a spot of connecting the dots. What is Google about to bravely embark upon in the mobile space? The Answer is of course, the Android OS. Ok, next question. What has Google recently launched in the PC space? Answer: The new Chrome Internet browser. Can you see where we are going with this?

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that Google is going to be looking to get an Android version of its Chrome browser signed sealed and delivered for mobiles quicksmart. Indeed, this quote from one of Google’s natural birth parents, Sergey Brin, seems to confirm as much:

“Probably a subsequent version of Android is going to pick up a lot of the Chrome stack… My guess is we’ll have ‘Chrome-like’ or something similar”

No matter how sick you are of reading about Google’s new Chrome browser since its announcement last week, there’s no denying that Google’s proprietary browser entering the mobile space is big news. Nice to see that Google is tying together a nice little clutch of  end to end user apps for Android (even if it isn’t really in the spirit of open source software).
