Mobile tech firm Mobyko has launched its latest service, which it’s referring to as a Living Address Book. What’s that? Well, it’s basically your phone contacts, linked to your contacts on the web on Facebook and Twitter, rolling everything neatly into one application.
It lets you edit your contacts online, and then synchronise them over the air with your phone. And it can pull in your friends’ Facebook and Twitter status updates directly to the address book - which explains the ‘living’ part of the name. There’s also the option to create groups of contacts, who you can then text from your web browser.
It’s certainly interesting. I wonder if this kind of functionality will ultimately be built into phones themselves - perhaps someone like Nokia would be a potential acquirer of a company like Mobyko to get its hands on this technology.
