Google updates My Location pseudo-GPS

If you have an older - non GPS enabled - phone, Google Maps Mobile has a handy alternative in the form of My Location.

My Location uses cellphone radio mast  positions to triangulate and work out your rough location.  Until now it has only been able to give a rough (within just under a mile) approximation but Google has just released an updated version of Google Maps Mobile that it claims is much more accurate.

The software now makes better use of relative signal strengths and - in areas with more masts - will use this info to pinpint you even more closely.

Google Maps Mobile is a free download, although you will be using your mobile plan’s data allowance.
