The demise, or at least significant downsizing, of the user friendly snapper market seems near enough certain now, what with the marauding legions of high quality camera phones looming on the horizon.
So it’s hardly surprising that certain camera companies are looking to diversify their business by hitching a ride with certain mobile phone manufacturers. First among that group to make its movements public is Kodak, one of the biggest names in photography and imaging, which has recently partnered with Nokia so that the two companies can cross-license one another’s patent portfolios.
It’s not the first time Kodak has got involved with mobile phones, having lent its band and its technology to the MotoZINE ZN5. There are no details yet about what Nokia and Kodak’s joint venture will result in, but the thought of an 8 megapixel Nseries handset with a Kodak lens and all manner of other digital photography extras is surely the stuff dreams are made of (in our office anyway).
Here’s hoping…
