Following on from yesterday’s Nokia announcements, the Finnish outfit’s new N-Gage mobile gaming service has been scheduled for a November roll out. This new service is part of Nokia’s internet Ovi umbrella portal and games can be downloaded via either a compatible handset or your PC while it also lets you try-before-you-buy. However, you will have to download the N-Gage gaming app before you get started but future Nokia handsets, like the N81 and N95 8GB, will already have it pre-installed.
Games will cost between €6 and €10 and Nokia has already lined-up some impressive titles including EA SPORTS FIFA 08, The Sims 2 Pets, Tetris, and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR while the likes of Capcom and Vivendi, and its famed Crash Bandicoot have also joined the N-Gage party. Nokia Publishing also announced new titles like Snakes Subsonic and Bounce Boing Voyage. Seven Nokia N-series devices will be compatible from its November introduction and these include N73, N81, N81 8GB, N93, N93i, N95 and N95 8GB.

Pocket Picks has already alerted you to the follow-up to the HTC Touch here but the original rumours billed it as the HTC P5500, aka HTC Nike. Now operator DoCoMo has launched the Touch sequel over in Japan as the HTC1100. As you can tell from the picture, a sliding number keypad has been added, no doubt to aid HTC’s frustrating TouchFLO touch-sensitive operation technology. We’ve also noticed the touch-screen size has been reduced from 2.8 to 2.5-inches while Wi-Fi has been unceremoniously scrapped. Instead, download speeds are now HSDPA style, which shows HTC is happy for this next generation 3G technology to handle the main connectvity duties. The HT1100 is still powered by a Windows Mobile 6 OS and harbours a two-megapixel camera.
We’re still unsure when this HT1100 smartphone will be be released in the UK and whether it will still bare this model number but rumours are circulating that HTC are preparing to announce four new handsets sometime next month. As ever we’ll keep you posted of any officially announcements.

Nokia announced its new Music Store today, allowing you to download tracks direct from your handset. At the moment the compatible phones stretch to just the N95 8GB version and N81 but it’s a start. It works much like Apple’s iTunes music store with all the major and independent music labels on board with individual tracks costing €1 (67p), albums priced at €10 (£6.70) while you can stream music to you PC for a monthly subscription of €10 (£6.70).
You can also transfer purchased songs via your PC to 16 compatible Nokia devices, including the new Nokia 5310 and 5610 XpressMusic phones. This is made easier with Nokia’s new-look Music PC Client (available later in the year) that synchs your music library, playlists, lets you rip CDs and gives you access to the Music Store, a la iTunes. Alternatively you can use Windows Media Player to manage your music.
Purchased music will be delivered in (notably Mac-unfriendly) WMA format encoded at 192Kbps, with Nokia announcing ‘millions’ of tracks will be available on launch in Q4.

Nokia has united all its new internet services under one gateway and christened it Ovi. Meaning ‘door’ in Finnish, Ovi is an umbrella portal that allows access to Nokia’s new Music Store, Nokia Maps and N-Gage games, as well as exisiting social networks and communities.
Ovi is scheduled to go live sometime in Q4 in English and is expected to roll out in different languages and regions well into early 2008. You will be able to access Ovi on Nokia devices and via your PC with content and services continually expanding and evolving over time.

The second Nokia XpressMusic handset to rock up is the 5610. This 3G slider is little more potent than its fellow 5310 (introduced below), especially in the camera department, serving up a 3.2 megapixel shutterbug with flash. It also introduces a new navi slider key below the 2.2-inch scratch proof QVGA-quality screen, that we believe switches between the built-in music player and FM radio.
Again Nokia is pledging mammoth music playback with the 5610 - an incredible 22 hours is mooted - with storage handled by a 4GB microSD card. Like the 5310, the 5610 will ship in Q4, costing €300 before taxes and subsides.

If you scroll down, you’ll spy images of Nokia’s new XpressMusic phones before they’ve even been announced (we’re so good to you.) Now Pocket Picks can bring you more details on the handset’s features and specs, starting with the 5310.
This candybar is incredibly sleek, measuring just 9.9mm and weighing a mere 80 grams. Nokia has somehow fitted a 3.5mm headphone jack into its slim chassis plus space for a 4GB microSD card (we’re still unsure if this will ship with the phone) and the Finnish manufacturer is promising 18 hours of music playback. The 5310 also sports a two-megapixel snapper, two-inch QVGA display and will be available in Q4 for around €225.

HTC has officially announced the follow-up to the TyTN on its website here. The snappily titled TyTN II (aka HTC Kaiser) is similarly in build and design to the original device but packs a far superior feature set. Now the sequel runs of the latest Windows Mobile 6 OS, ups the maximum HSDPA download speeds to 3.6Mbps, takes photos with a three-megapixel snapper and includes built-in GPS with TomTom sat nav software.
HTC has also loaded a new look proprietary Home screen and a rather handy tilting QGVA-quailty touch-screen. You just slide open the phone to reveal the full QWERTY keyboard, then tilt the display towards. The screen is on hinges and is designed for enhanced ergonomic web browsing and touch-typing. T-Mobile has already signed up the TyTN II as the third incarnation of the MDA Vario series and we expect other networks to follow suit.

Moments ago, Pocket Picks brought you news of the new Mandarina Duck handset (see below), now it seems yet another fashion label is getting in on the mobile phone trip. Ted Baker is the latest to join the likes of the Duck, Levis, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada by releasing not one but two of its own branded mobile phones. The renowned fashion house has teamed up with Samsung and HTC to deliver the Ted Baker Button (pictured) and the Ted Baker Tyrian.
The design of the Ted Baker Button is loosely based around the recent G600 slimline slider and arrives in Reef Blue, Coffee and Rouge veneers, not to mention sporting a distinct rear motif. The Button’s feature-set is modest with a two-megpixel snapper, built-in music player and 3G capabilities. The Ted Baker Tyrian is obviously a tweaked HTC Touch devices, using its proprietary TouchFLO technology for operating the handset, plus built-in Wi-Fi for high-speed mobile web browsing and a Windows Mobile 6 OS.
Yet again The Carphone Warehouse has landed the exclusive for both handsets and like the Mandarina Duck clamshell, the Ted Baker duo will be available from free on contract around November time.

No, Mandarina Duck isn’t the tasty no.43 on your Chinese take away menu, rather an Italian designer luggage label. It seems fashion brands are nothing these days if you aren’t in with the mobile crowd and Mandarin Duck is the latest to launch a handset. This cute little clamshell doesn’t have a model number as such but is definitely geared for the female fraternity and saunters up in four coloured finishes including cherry red, purple, green and acid yellow.
At this stage we don’t have any exact feature details except in does harbour a camera, MP3 player and memory card slot. Being luggage experts, Mandarina Duck has also fastened a bag clip onto the phone so it neatly attaches to the inside of your bag while a host of accessories will be available carring the Duck’s quality hallmark. The Carphone Warehouse has landed the exclusive to hawk the phone from November and it will sell from free on contract.

Pocket Picks gave you the heads up here on the imminent arrival of the BlackBerry 8130 Curve with built in GPS on Vodafone and it appears the network has officially grabbed the exclusive rights to hawk the device. You can pick up the 8130 from 3rd September to 31st October only on Voda and if you connect to the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) through the network’s store or online shop you gain a free year’s subscription to Voda’s sat nav service. We assume if you don’t sign up to BIS you will have to stump up cash to gain access to its navigation privileges, although at this point in time we’re unsure of the pricing structure.
Vodafone Sat Nav is powered by Tel Map and we’re guessing maps for your chosen routes are downloaded over-the-air although again, we’re not entirely cetain. However you’re privy to neat features like traffic alerts updates, weather reports and restaurant reviews. Apart from the built-in GPS receiver, the 8310 is identical in design and feature set to the original 8300 Cruve and this includes a two-megapixel camera, built-in music player with integrated 3.5mm headhone jack and a microSD card slot for boosting storage options.
