We just got official confirmation of the Nokia N85 smartphone yesterday and already it seems the internet is awash with videos of it. Here is the official advert for the device in all of it’s slightly clunky, expositional and not quite natural glory:

Nokia is up to something.
Take a look at OpenAtYourOwnRisk.com(flash required). It’s a willfully obscure viral site that you have to open by aligning some symbols in a combination lock (don’t worry, it’s not hard).
Once you get through the ’security’ you will see some nicely done clockwork imagery, hear creepy music and read some rambling tosh about a bunch of royal types creating a clip of ‘grande weirdness’ (hundreds of years ago, before the invention of, er, movie clips) that they have placed in a box with four seals.
Clues to help you unlock the box have been hidden in important historical artifacts like Edison’s Lightbulb, Apollo Eleven and, er, the Nokia Download Store.
All will be revealed next Monday and you can sign up for an email alert to notify you as soon as the seals are cracked open.
What could it be? The Nokia Tube, perhaps? Doesn’t seem ‘grande weird’ enough, though - unless we have been WAY wrong about what the Tube will involve. Suggestions in the comments, if you please.
With the iPhone 3G’s launch just over week away, the heavyweight indoctrination marketing has begun. Apple has launched a ‘guided tur’ video that shows off the new iPhone’s features in a full walkthough presented by a man with a Very Calm Voice.
It’s pretty basic stuff, especially if you are familiar with the original, but it is nice to see that the new one actually exists and looks just that little bit sleeker..
Though we have been enjoying HTC’s handsets over here in Europe for a while, the company is still a relative unknown in the US among consumers hungry for the latest mobile thrills. With an Android handset on the horizon and plenty of other big plans between now and the end of the year, HTC is set to roll out a massive advertising campaign Stateside (as reported by gadget lab) to announce its presence. One of the first adverts has already surfaced in this rather charming ‘Set your fingers free’ video. Is it just us or do those ice skating hands look more graceful than the real thing?
