Sagem’s gone all bling with its my220x with gold trim and what’s more it isn’t at bling prices - how does £12.49 grab you?
Obviously at this price the my220x’s gold trim is only paint, but it has a ’subtle’ gold trim and disc menu button. It’s also tiny - we’re talking 65g in weight and 10mm thick.
As for features? Well, it is pretty basic with a colour screen, handsfree capability SMS and vibration. And that’s it. No camera, no MP3 player, just a bit of gold paint.
The my220x is available now on Virgin pre-pay from Argos (£12.49) and Woolworths (£14.99).
It’s lacking in features, but at only £12-£14 for a small, stylish handset, it’s tempting to buy it and get it unlocked for a tenner – it’ll still be cheaper than most other handsets out there.

Despite manufacturers pushing handsets crammed with the latest technologies, features, applications, connectivity options, cameras and so on and so on, some people still just want to talk with their mobile phone.
Vodafone already has some Simply handsets, and now Swedish manufacturer Doro has announced two basic handsets aimed at the elderly who either can use or don’t get new mobile technologies.
The Doro HandlePlus 324gsm (left) has only seven buttons and is aimed at those with limited hand movements or those who want a simple handset that’s easy to use. Users can also pre-programme five numbers for direct access (so no more random calls from elderly relatives confused by their address book).
The HandleEasy 326gsm (right) is a bit more, well, complicated. It has a full number pad, LCD display, vibrating ringtone and speakerphone capability.
The HandlePlus 324gsm is being released now, in time for Christmas, available from BioAcoustics for £79.99. The HandleEasy 325gsm is following in January, priced £99.99 from BioAcoutstics and Argos.
Budget phone maker Fly Mobile has released its second cheap prepay handset in as many weeks, this time in Argos on Virgin Mobile.
A couple of weeks ago, Fly Mobile announced the £100 touchscreen SLT 100. The new one is called the SL399e and is a pink clamshell, so presumably it’s aimed at women.
It has a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a MP3 player, memory card support and a colour screen inside.
It doesn’t sound particularly exciting, but that’s because you haven’t heard the price yet- £39.99. Yes, that’s right, a sub-£40 prepay handset just in time for Christmas.
Emerging manufacturer Fly Mobile has announced its latest handset, a low-end prepay handset that’s probably one of the cheapest touchscreen handsets around.
The SLT 100 comes in pink (for the ladies) and black (for men), and is the third handset from Fly Mobile. The SLT 100 does also feature a traditional keyboard and has a two-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, FM radio (And the exclusive FM record function for saving radio programmes), MP3 player and memory card support.
The SLT 100 is available as a pre-pay handset with Virgin Mobile and you’ll be able to get it, if you wish, from Currys, The Link Online and Argos. Pricing hasn’t yet been confirmed, but it will almost certainly be very reasonably priced.
