The ad-funded mobile social network site Mobikade has teamed with BAM Student Marketing (the company that takes care of official student union websites) to offer its free SMS service via student union websites *insert predictable tax/soap dodging joke here*.
The service will be embedded on 30 UK university student’s union sites where the nation’s teen (and up) scholars will be able to send text messages to any mobile in the UK. There is however a small catch. In order to be able to send free messages you need to accumulate Mobikade points which can only be earned through using various features on the Mobikade WAP site.
However, it looks like the points are being dished out quicker than banks handing out enormous low interest student overdrafts. You get 300 points just for registering and a further 10 for each daily visit. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal all round.
