Nokia has unveiled two new 8800 handsets designed to ‘excite the most discerning and style-conscious consumers’. And those with deep pockets with the phones retailing at over €1,000 each!
The 8800 range is Nokia’s premium handsets boasting high-end manufacturing and exotic stylings. Despite their high prices they’ve been a hit with consumers.
The latest two - the 8800 Arte (bottom) and 8800 Sapphire Arte with embedded gemstone and leather casing (top) - are also the first 8800 devices to boast 3G connectivity. Both sliders have metal and glass bodies, colour screens, 3.2-megapixel cameras, 1GB internal memory, MicroUSB connectors and anti-fingerprint coatings.
One intriguing feature is the ‘turn-to-mute’ feature, whereby you can set the 8800 Arte to silent mode simply by turning the handset screen-side down.
The handsets also have exclusive pre-loaded music content from top producers Kruder & Dorfmeister.
Are you ‘excited’ about getting one yet? Well, the Nokia 8800 Arte starts shipping before Christmas retailing at about €1000 (before taxes and subsidies), while the Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte will follow early next year retailing at around €1150 (again before taxes and subsidies).
