Help your Mac get along with your Mobile with SyncMate

syncmateApple Macs are justly famed for their ability to interoperate with other devices, but they have always had trouble with Windows Mobile. There has never been any native Mac OSX support for Windows smartphones and, now the iPhone is on the scene, Apple are unlikely to start providing it.

The traditional fix was to buy a copy of The Missing Sync. This would synchronise a host of devices with Mac OSX but, while not exactly expensive at around $40, it still meant spending money to achieve something the OS should have done for free.

SyncMate (right) is a new freeware app that should do the trick. It will sync Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices with machines running Mac OS 10.4. Yup, that’s right - it doesn’t support Leopard yet. A shame, but hopefully something the authors can put right now that Leopard has been around for a few months.



Nokia Multimedia Transfer for Macs updated to version 1.2

Fresh out of Nokia’s revolving door Beta Labs is the new Nokia Multimedia Transfer 1.2 Beta for Macs which as you might expect allows you to transfer pictures, videos, music, and more between a compatible Nokia device and an Apple Mac.

It seems that the update is mostly just geared towards making the software compatible with the recently released Mac OS Leopard but there are a couple of other tweaks too. The software, which is available now, as always is free to download and a full list of changes are detailed after the jump.
