PDF+ for Symbian, UIQ smartphones gets a revamp

MainView_E611.jpgThis is probably one for business readers out there, but as PDFs are becoming more prevalent on smartphones, it is worth knowing: MBrain Software’s Symbian smartphone PDF reader PDF+ is getting a revamp, with three new versions about to be released.

PDF+ Basic lets users view PDF pages, search for strings, set a zoom level and view documents in both fullscreen and landscape modes. It will also let users read PDFs sent as email attachments or downloaded from the web.

PDF+ Standard has a few more features such as bookmark support, click-throughs on links in documents, sending emails from links and dialing phone numbers. This will also support password-protected PDF files as well.

Finally PDF+ Professional has all of the above and more. Professional users get full printing support, letting them create printable PDF files.

All three versions for Symbian smartphones will be available later this year, as will PDF+ Basic and Standard versions for UIQ 3.x smartphones. Unfortunately because UIQ 3.x doesn’t support printing, the Professional version of PDF+ isn’t available yet.

Naturally, this isn’t free and it’ll cost €9.95 for Basic, €19.95 for Standard and €29.95 for the Pro version (all excluding VAT). Upgrades from one version to another will cost €10.
