We have covered the Nokia Comes With Music service to death of late, what with the discovery that it is launching in Britain first, followed by our concerns about the fact that there will be no over-the-air downloads (for the first handset anyway) so we’ll keep this brief.
According to Reuters, The Car Phone Warehouse will unleash Nokia’s Comes With Music 5310 XpressMusic handset (what a mouth-full) on October 17th here in the UK.
There is still nothing concrete up on the Carphone Warehouse site as of yet, so for the time being, let’s assume that this is subject to change (though it probably won’t). That leaves you with just under a month to rustle up the necessary cash, though just how much you will need to rustle up is still unclear.
We reckon you should aim to pack that piggy bank with about £300, just to be on the safe side (though that’s our non-conservative estimate, so fingers crossed it ends up being cheaper).

Nokia’s Comes With Music service has been in the works for a while now, and it looks as though us Brits that will be the first to sample the fruits of Nokia’s hard labour.
In case Come With Music sounds like just another in a long line of empty mobile music related sound-bites to you, you should probably know that Comes With Music is a service that gives users one year of unlimited access to the Nokia Music Store, with the ability to keep all of the downloaded tracks even after the year is over. Interested now?
The Carphone Warehouse has snagged (initial) exclusivity to the UK pre-pay channel and will be the only place to get hold of the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic ‘Comes With Music’ edition until December 31st. That said, Nokia’s press release doesn’t make clear when the handset/service will be made available, though apparently Nokia will be holding a specific Comes With Music event on October 2nd.
Stick that in your iTunes and suck it Apple (come on, let’s have a flame war).
If you are a T-Mobile customer just itching to consign your current handset to the sock drawer in favour of something a little more new and shiny, then be prepared for a letdown.
According to Unwired View, an insider has confirmed (not our idea of confirmation but hey it’s late in the day so let’s roll with it) that the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic, the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic and the underwhelming Motorola Z6w are all going to be late. The Nokia handsets have been given new release dates a couple of weeks later than expected whereas the Motorola Z6w is going to be really late, as in it’s never going to launch with T-Mobile.
Apparently the device has been canceled outright due to ‘early testing issues’ which sounds a little heavy handed to us and could just be a nice way of saying the phone was rubbish and not likely to sell well. While Nokia’s bosses are probably still sleeping soundly at night, this is the last thing that the faltering Motorola needs just now. Still, it’s probably best to think of this as a rumour until T-Mobile comes clean with the details.
