ROK Entertainment acquires Fun Little Movies for mobile videos

flm1.jpgNo, we don’t know what’s going on in the picture either, but we do know that ROK has acquired a 51% stake in a US mobile comedy video producer Fun Little Movies (FLM), with the aim of taking FLM’s original 3G video content to operators worldwide.

What attracted ROK seems to be FLM’s awards for its product including Best Video Producer at the 2007 ME Awards. FLM has also been accredited for pioneering advertiser-funded content for mobile video.

FLM already has distribution deals with operators and manufacturers around the world, including the three main US operators. ROK will now be FLM’s main worldwide distributor.

ROK is believed to be using its ROK TV service to distribute the content, which means that in the UK and Europe, it’ll be available via Nokia Downloads on its ESeries handsets.

ROK Talk: ROK Entertainment to launch mobile conference calling application

n95.pngThe specialist mobile technology company ROK Entertainment Group has just announced ROK Talk. Essentially ROK Talk is a conference calling client for Symbian 3rd Edition mobile phones with support for up to 30 simultaneous users.

The software allows you to access numbers from your existing phone’s address book meaning the process is fiddle free. Uniquely, conference calls can be controlled directly from the handset as opposed to a separate computer.

Apparently the call costs are set to be substantially lower than other conference calling solutions too and as such ROK Talk is being targeted at private users as well as the business world. The company is currently taking applications to join the beta but if you are interested you had better hurry as there are only 500 places.
