Nokia LifeviNe - ‘Sports tracker for your life’

lifevine.jpgHaving realised, perhaps, that not all N-Series mobile owners are into distance running and therefore won’t be getting much out of the otherwise-excellent Sports Tracker app Nokia has pulled off the dustsheet to reveal Nokia LifeviNe.

Ok, it’s a silly intercapitalised name but LifviNe is quite a capable-looking Geoptagging app. You can associate different media files (music, video clips and pictures) with different locations, and plot both them and your movements on a map.

LifeviNe can automatically upload your pics and video whenever you are in wifi range - providing you phone can handle it, naturally - and all your data can be displayed via a Facebook or Web 2.0 widget.

The app is still in alpha at the moment, but Nokia should have somethiing downloadable via the Beta Labs in the next few weeks.

Nokia Beta Labs has a busy week

screenshot_022.jpgNokia’s revolving doors Beta Labs has been very busy this past week with updates for Nokia PC Phone, Nseries PC Suite and Mobile Web Server all going live.

Not only that but the Internet Tablet Video Converter has been updated gaining Vista support, an E61 version of Sports Tracker has been launched and the once withdrawn Conversation is back and presumably tweaked to the max.

As usual all of the apps are free to try so seeing as it’s Friday and you are probably clock watching already now might be a good time to go try some of them out.

Nokia N82 gets exclusive ‘adventure pack’ from its online store

n82-shop-copy.jpgNokia’s released an exclusive ‘adventure pack’ for its brand spanking new N82, just in time for Christmas.

Available only from Nokia’s online store, the ‘adventure pack’ includes a Sim-free N82 (naturally), but also a pre-installed copy of Nokia’s Sports Tracker app and a Salomon backpack, as well as the 2GB microSD card and music headset which come as standard. And all this for only £399.

The phone itself is quite a nifty piece of kit with a five-megapixel camera, built-in GPS and Nokia Maps (in case you get lost while jogging), mobile internet (on 3G and Wi-Fi), plus a music player and FM radio.

The handset, currently available on O2 with a range of mobile retailers is already a pretty hot device, and presumably the ‘adventure pack’ is going to prove pretty attractive for sports enthusiasts.

Show your laziness with Nokia Sports Tracker

sportstrackerNokia’s Sports Tracker software has been available from its Beta Labs for some time but has now been officially launched, together with a shiny new web app to let you share and publish your boasts training progress reports.

Sports Tracker requires a Nokia S60 3rd Edition phone with either an external or internal GPS receiver which it uses to automatically keep a log of your speed, distance run, and location when out training. This data can be uploaded to the site and presented in a variety of ways including a map view, progress graph and workout summary.

Another nice feature is the ability to upload geo-tagged photos that you take while out and about. The software will pop them up onto the appropriate point on your route map or let you manually place them.

Nokia Sports Tracker is completely free and Nokia say they are working on an API that will let you access your data from other websites and apps, which should let you publish your progress on your blog or (potentially) into social networking sites like Facebook.
