Tapatap says its mobile site attracted more than a million unique visitors in May, following the launch of several new features. The company describes its service as “social photo games”, which basically means a social network where you upload photos of yourself, with game-like features added on. Those million users sent more than 300,000 messages, and the service ran more than 15,000 photo games during the month. The new features include something called HottieGPS, which lets users rate each others’ looks and find local ‘hotties’ (yes, it’s an American company - can you tell?) Other new features include polls and quizzes, with users able to create their own and submit them to the community. “Passing the million monthly unique visitor milestone validates that the mobile web is a viable platform for mass market consumers,” says president Andy Riedel. Tapatap has its roots in a service called Hotties which was originally planned to be launched by Hands-On Mobile, but then canned. Riedel left the company soon after, set up his own firm, and the rest is history.
