The chaps over at Boy Genius Report couldn’t believe their luck when the preview Motorola Q9 they received turned out to have a pre-release copy of Windows Mobile 6.1 installed on it.
It’s difficult to tell from the screenshot, but 6.1 will feature a new ‘Carousel’ home screen that lets you slide left and right onto different functions with a flick of the stylus.
Other improvements include the long awaited Threaded SMS, working Copy ‘n’ Paste and address autocompletion as well as a bit of general spit & polish to make the interface look all sparkly and Vista-ish.
There is a gallery of screen shots available here.
You kind of have to ask why this wasn’t included in the first place, seeing as how Windows Mobile 6 hasn’t been around all that long. But still, it’s good to hear that Microsoft is supporting its own file formats, with the addition of .docx to Office Mobile.
